March 20, 2022

Greetings CDA Family,

I am pleased to announce that we are opening our school to parents of Grades 1 to 5 during morning drop off (8:00am to 8:10am) starting Monday, March 21 at the Main Gate, Garfield Gate, and Garden Gate.  Please note that in order to avoid the separation anxieties experienced by our Transitional Kindergarten and Kindergarten students during drop off, parents of TK and K students must drop off from outside the Kindergarten gate rather than inside the school.  All parents are required to wear masks while on campus, answer the health check questions, and exit the school after the drop off window at 8:10am.

After school student pick up will remain the same as before.  Parents must pick up students from outside the school.  Please continue to use the Garfield Gate for BTB and BGCV pick up – see map here at 3:30pm, 4pm, 4:30pm, and 6pm.

Starting Wednesday, March 23, masking indoors and outdoors will be strongly recommended but no longer required for students and staff.  Please note that masking is still required for campus visitors.  Some students and staff will continue to wear masks, while others may not.  Please consider your situation and do what is best for you or your child.

Positive Behavior Expectations

Please continue to review the Schoolwide Positive Behavior Expectations document with your child on a daily basis.  I am highlighting the expectation that students may not bring gum, candy, electronic devices, personal equipment or toys to school.  Zucas, bikes, and scooters may not be ridden while on school grounds.  Students who violate these rules will receive a warning and after the first warning the items will be confiscated. Confiscated items can be picked up from the main office by a parent or guardian.

Women’s History Month Quote

This week we are recognizing Mother Teresa, a Nobel Peace Prize winner “for work undertaken in the struggle to overcome poverty and distress, which also constitutes a threat to peace”.  Her quote, “It is easy to love the people far away. It is not always easy to love those close to us. It is easier to give a cup of rice to relieve hunger than to relieve the loneliness and pain of someone unloved in our own home. Bring love into your home for this is where our love for each other must start.” reminds us to be kind, respectful, responsible, and safe with everyone we meet.
