In 2017, Coeur D’Alene integrated Meet the Masters, a world-renowned visual arts program with more than 30 years of history providing interactive, multi-media art education to elementary school students. With this program, taught in levels to match each grade, our students are engaged in learning about master artists ranging from Matisse to Degas, Van Gogh, Warhol, Monet and many more. Each artist is introduced to the students with a history about the artist’s life and famous works, along with a virtual museum walk filled with interesting stories and facts about the artist. Then, once the students have a true connection to the artist, they learn the techniques that made that artist’s work revolutionary. Finally, our classrooms transform into an art studio as the teacher leads the students on a step-by-step journey through an art project reflective of that master artist’s style. Throughout the course of the school year, all of our students learn about an array of master artists and develop a diverse portfolio of unique artwork.
