December 5, 2021

Greetings CDA Family,

Happy December! The first semester is almost over and the winter break is coming. I have learned so much in the past few months from this wonderful school family. I continue to reflect and grow as an educator, a leader, and as a human being. I am also looking forward to applying what I learned to build deeper and more meaningful connections with family and friends during the holidays.

School Experience Survey

The due date to complete the parent school experience survey is fast approaching. Please take a few minutes now to complete this by accessing it here

Poster Contests

I am proud to announce that Coeur d’ Alene Elementary had the highest number of winners in the My Venice Holiday Poster Contest. Congratulations to our My Venice Holiday Contest Winners: Kindergarten Anna Kaji, 1st grade Charli O’Brian, 2nd grade Devon Zech-Gros, and 5th grade Quinn Altman.

I would like to encourage all students to submit artwork or poetry with a California coastal or marine theme to the Coastal Art & Poetry Contest. Entries can be submitted online until midnight January 31st, 2022. For rules, contest flyer, entry form (and helpful links for teachers and students), please visit www.coastal.ca.gov/art-poetry.

Traffic Safety

Traffic safety continues to be a challenge during pick up and drop off around our campus. To address the issue, we will start a valet program. To do this we need volunteers! Please complete the survey found here if you are interested in supporting this program. We have also asked for city services, parking, and traffic enforcement, to support us. Anyone can help by also calling for city services at 213-485-4184 or 310-312-3500.

Change of Beyond the Bell Gate and pick up times

Here is a reminder that Beyond the Bell and the Boys and Girls Club have agreed to the following pick up times at the Garfield Gate: 3:30pm, 4pm, 4:30pm, and 6pm. If caretakers wish to pick up students at different times than 3:30pm, 4pm, 4:30pm, and 6pm, please make arrangements with the program directors: Mr. Hampton, BTB, can be contacted at [email protected] and Ms. Alvarado, BGCV, at [email protected]
