Dear Coeur d’Alene Avenue Elementary Families:
Welcome back to school! On behalf of our Booster Club, Friends of CDA, I am excited to officially welcome you to the 2023-2024 school year at Coeur d’Alene Ave. Elementary School (CDA). Our community, as a whole, is diverse, unique, and expanding, and we hope you’ll take pride in being a part of it! We have lots of wonderful things on the horizon for the school year and are eager to share them with you.
To start the year off right, we invite all families to the CDA Annual Beach Day, Saturday, August 19th from 12pm – 3pm. Join us and meet your school community while having some fun in the sun! We will meet south of the Venice Pier. Look for tents and the CDA banner! Please note that adult(s) must accompany children, this is not a drop off event.
Through monies raised by our Booster Club, (that’s you, every CDA parent/guardian is a member of the club) CDA affords our students many educational experiences outside of LAUSD’s financed staff and programs. The money we raise helps pay for our visual arts and music programs, physical education, technology, our librarians, our instructional and teacher’s aides, and our gardening program, among many other things. To achieve this, we rely on the commitment and cooperation of our families. CDA would not be what it is without its extensive parent-involvement, this is what makes our school unique and special. We encourage every family to participate and to have a voice.
Here are some great ways to get involved:

Volunteer at school events and fundraisers

Help plan and carry out fundraising events. It’s fun!

Become a room parent for your child’s class. Email [email protected] for more information.

We are also looking for parents who are tech savvy and handy!
Communication
Due to recent changes within the district, all parents must opt in to get information from your room parents and Booster regarding classroom updates, schoolwide events, and much more. Please use this link or scan this code to opt in and stay informed:
Social Media
Don’t forget to stay updated on all things CDA by following @cdavenice on Instagram and Friends of Coeur d’Alene Elementary on Facebook.
Community Fund
We look forward to your involvement, input, and ideas, and we respectfully encourage you to donate to the Community Fund, which is our annual direct-giving fundraiser. All donations are 100% tax-deductible, and every dollar counts toward maintaining the school and the exceptional programs we are very fortunate to have in place. The ask is $1250 per student and is a separate donation from all of the events. We realize not every family can contribute this amount, so any donation counts! Checks can be made out to Friends of CDA and dropped in the Booster Club box in the main office.
CDA not only provides our students with a unique and well-rounded education, it also helps them form a sense of community through the many extracurricular activities and events that are held throughout the year. If you are in the position of giving today, in order to reach our much-needed funding goals, please consider doing so today! Let’s start the year off strong!

1st Booster Club Meeting (6:30pm on ZOOM)
*Come lend your voice, find out how to become more involved and about all the things happening at CDA that are parent sponsored
Class T-shirts ($10-$15)
Class t-shirts differ in color by grade and are worn on Spirit Mondays, on field trips and for other school spirit events. T-shirts and other CDA merchandise will be on sale the first week of School and also at Back to School Night (date TBD), and also on Cheddar Up. Or you can scan here:
Parking Lots
Please be reminded that the CDA main parking lot is for staff/volunteer use only. Do not park in this lot or occupy any of the spots during the school day. If driving, please make accommodations to arrive early enough to find street parking on Coeur D’Alene Avenue or Garfield Avenue.
