Hello CDA Families!

As a followup to Drinks With Danielle last Friday, the district is offering a 2-part Special Edition of LAUSD’s Family Academy Webinar on Substance Use and Fentanyl Awareness that begins TOMORROW. This workshop was announced today. Part I is scheduled for Friday, 9/3/22, from 5:30-7:00 PM. Part II is scheduled for Saturday, 10/1/22, from 9:30-11:00 AM. A second issue that came up at Friday’s meeting was bullying. From LAUSD’s Educational Equity Compliance Office on the Bullying and Hazing webpage (https://achieve.lausd.net/Page/3582):

LAUSD is committed to providing a safe and civil learning and working environment. The District takes a strong position against bullying, hazing, or any behavior that infringes on the safety or well-being of students, employees, or any other persons within the District’s jurisdiction or interferes with learning or the ability to teach. The District prohibits retaliation against anyone who files a complaint or participates in the complaint investigation process.

Bullying and hazing are part of a continuum of aggressive or violent behaviors. Some acts of bullying or hazing can and do constitute other categories of misconduct such as assault, battery, child abuse, hate-motivated incident, criminal activity or sexual harassment and, as such, violate other District policies. In such cases, District personnel are obligated to follow appropriate District reporting guidelines.

The website provides parents and educators with resources to support students. Our mission in education is to support students’ access to and equity in education. All children deserve a free and appropriate education. If you believe your child is being bullied, step 1 is to stop by the Main Office to pick up a Bullying Complaint Form. The administration’s role is to support students, families, staff, and the community. Receipt of this form triggers a mandatory investigation. We take bullying very seriously.

On an unrelated and lighter note, please visit the Lost and Found in the Principal’s Courtyard. Items will be donated next Monday at the end of the day.

Thank you for your continued support and collaboration as we join together to build a stronger school community.

See you tomorrow (Friday),

Principal Grasso
