August 29, 2021

Greetings CDA Family,

Thank you for a wonderful Back to School Event last Thursday. We had 223 parents participating and I enjoyed speaking to the community during this special night.

I continue to appreciate your support during this unprecedented pandemic environment. I feel encouraged, strengthened, and motivated by your positive energy.

Please review the Covid 19 Data School Report Card at https://achieve.lausd.net/covidreportcard which indicates that there are no cases of school-based transmission at CDA. To keep all of us safe and secure, only staff and students who are “Allowed” per LAUSD daily pass dashboard may enter our campus. I am hoping that guests and volunteers can participate in our school activities by October 2021. I am grateful for your patience.

In addition, the following reminders will help improve our safety and practices. Please read them carefully and follow our school guidelines.

Communication

  • Please expect a blackboard connect email from me every Sunday at 5:30pm. The same email will be posted at cdavenice.org
  • Teachers send one email communication per week. Please check with your child’s teacher for the scheduled message.
  • If you are not receiving any communications, please update your profile by clicking here, while instructions to update your email in the parent portal can be found by clicking here.

Recess and Lunch

We are refining our recess and lunch routines and procedures and we need your help:

  • The library and quiet play area is now available for students, please encourage your children to use these areas during recess and lunchtime.
  • Students will continue to receive their meals via the cafeteria, or they may bring their lunch from home. Any student who forgets to bring their lunch will be able to eat in the cafeteria for free. Please click here for the cafeteria menu. Students should bring a reusable water bottle.
  • Students will eat their lunch at their appropriate tables near the cafeteria. We need your help in reinforcing the following procedures on a daily basis:
    • Students must eat in their assigned area only. Encourage students to follow physical distancing protocols.
    • When the end of recess/lunch bell rings, students must remain in their assigned table until dismissed by their teacher to the line up area.
