CDA Community,

We will use this platform to house communications since March 10, 2020, when the Covid-19 / coronavirus health crisis started to affect our day-to-day operations. Make sure to check the district’s website for more up-to-date information. If you are not receiving their communications by phone or email, please email me so that we can check your contact information in our student data system.

Stay well and together we will get through this crisis. Thanks.

Dear Fifth Grade Families,

As we approach our in-person culmination, we wanted to remind you of a few things. Our communications that we have shared prior to today are below, in case you need to catch up. Please read carefully.

  1. All families who plan to attend need to RSVP using our Google form. Please make sure that you have done this, as we will be setting up and assigning seats based on your RSVP.
  2. Seating will be assigned by lottery. When you enter, we will let you know where you are sitting. Seating will reflect the number of guests you indicated in the Google form. Our fifth graders will be sitting separately from their families.
  3. All PM virtual students and PM in-person students who plan to attend on June 11th should arrive earlier than their families for a 2nd dress rehearsal at 08:00 AM. Please have them ready for the ceremony and at the fifth grade entrance gate on Garfield. Families can return at 09:15 AM to prepare for entrance. The gates through which all families will enter are below. We will open the gates at 09:20 AM.
    1. West Garfield Gate (By Rooms 25/26): Mrs. Payne’s Class
    2. East Garfield Gate (By Room 12): Mrs. Buck’s Class
    3. Main Gate, Coeur d’Alene Avenue: Mr. Yin’s Class
  4. We are having our first dress rehearsal today, June 9th, at 12:00 PM. AM in-person students who do not stay for care should plan to eat lunch on campus at 11:00 AM with Mr. Ironstone and will join their PM in-person peers at noon for a dress rehearsal. PM virtual students should plan to join us at noon through the Garfield gate. They will also be with Mr. Ironstone and me. Both sets of students will be dismissed at 1:00 PM. PM virtual students who attend the dress rehearsal will begin synchronous virtual instruction at 1:15 PM or as soon as they arrive home. PM virtual students who cannot attend will work asynchronously today until 1:15 PM.
  5. All virtual students need to have a negative COVID PCR test result uploaded to their Daily Pass by Friday morning, June 11th, in order to take part in the ceremony, no exceptions.
  6. All guests must wear a well fitting mask. They will have their temperature taken and will have to agree to the linked screening questions.
  7. Finally, the 3 hours of in-person time on Friday will count for their in-person or synchronous time. We encourage you to celebrate your culminating fifth grader and leave with them after the ceremony. If you need those who are signed up for care to stay after the ceremony, please let us know by emailing me ahead of time. Thanks.

Dear Fifth Grade Families,

Thanks for patience as we work out the details for our in-person culmination. There are many details that needed to be addressed, but we wanted to let you know that our in-person culmination has been officially scheduled for Friday, June 11th, at 09:30 AM, for all students who wish to take part. We will be sending out an Evite this week so we can gather RSVP’s. All students who take part in the in-person culmination will need negative results in place from a PCR COVID test 7 days prior to the event. Our in-person students will be tested on Monday, June 7th. Students who are attending who are learning virtually can 1) schedule a test through the Daily Pass, 2) test through an external health provider, or 3) test with us on the same day as their in-person peers, June 7th, by appointment. Details about that latter option (#3) will be emailed to Mrs. Buck’s online PM cohort. The test results of students who test through an external health provider will need to be uploaded to the Daily Pass, details here.

At this time, we safely know that we can allow up to 3 guests per student. While we would love to be able to accommodate more, our LA County of Department of Public Health social distancing guidelines and program will not allow for more. I want to remind everyone that we had options: virtual or in-person. We chose in-person because we know how special an occasion this is for our students and families. One of our parents is filming the event, which will be shared with our families. We are also hiring a professional photographer to take pictures, which will also have sharing options. All guests will be temperature checked upon entering campus and will have to agree to health screening questions. We will stage 3 entrances, details to come.

Finally, we had originally planned on having our culmination on June 10th, so as not to conflict with our nearby middle school’s virtual culmination. They announced their culmination date as June 10th, so our date and time are now final, June 11th at 09:30 AM. That was our preference in the beginning and has always been our tradition. Thanks as always for your support and understanding as we work on making this an event one to be remembered. We appreciate you.

Dear Fifth Grade Families,

Please see linked Google form that we are using to confirm your attendance at our in-person culmination. We are allowing up to 3 guests. Students will sit separately with their classmates. All students who are learning virtually and who plan to attend the in-person culmination must have negative results of a PCR COVID test registered in their Daily Pass. Directions for uploading external results are linked here. Students who are learning virtually and who plan to attend our in-person culmination can schedule a COVID test through the Daily Pass, have an external test administered, or RSVP to test with us on Monday, June 7th, at 2:00 PM. We will receive those students at the Garfield gate by room 12, map linked.

Below are the entrances for the families of each class. We are using a lottery system to assign seats. We will direct you to the seating area once you have your temperature checked and agree to the screening questions. All guests must wear a well-fitting mask. Handkerchiefs and buffs are not acceptable face coverings.

Thanks for your cooperation and support. We are excited to celebrate our culminating fifth graders.

Dear Fifth Grade Families,

As a reminder, we will need your confirmation that you will be attending our in-person culmination on June 11th at 09:30 AM. Only guests who have RSVP’d will be admitted. All students will need to have a negative PCR COVID test result in place on their Daily Pass within 7 days of the ceremony. In-person students will have their last test on Monday, June 7th, and virtual students have 3 options for testing, outlined in our last communication.

Please complete the Google form RSVP if you have not already. Seat assignments will be made through a lottery system, and families will be directed to their seating assignment when they enter through their assigned gate, indicated in the linked communication.

In order to ensure that our fifth graders are ready for the ceremony, we are scheduling a dress rehearsal on Wednesday, June 9th at 12:00 PM. AM in-person students will stay for lunch after their instructional time and be dismissed at 1:00 PM at the Garfield Gate or join their care program. PM online students who are taking part in the ceremony will join us through the Garfield Gate at noon and join their AM and PM in-person peers for a 1 hour rehearsal. They will also be dismissed with AM in-person students at 1:00 PM and can then join Mrs. Buck on Zoom. Online students who are not taking part in the ceremony with work asynchronously for 1 hour. (Mrs. Payne’s 4th graders will work with Mrs. Shindo in class.) Please email me ASAP if your child cannot attend the dress rehearsal. 100% attendance is always the goal.

Thanks for your support and cooperation as we work within the guidelines provided to us by the LA County Department of Public Health.
