CDA Community,

We will use this platform to house communications since March 10, 2020, when the Covid-19 / coronavirus health crisis started to affect our day-to-day operations. Make sure to check the district’s website for more up-to-date information. If you are not receiving their communications by phone or email, please email me so that we can check your contact information in our student data system.

Stay well and together we will get through this crisis. Thanks.

Dear CDA Community,

Twelve years ago I was given the opportunity of a lifetime to become our school’s principal, and I could not be more proud of the work we have accomplished as a community. We have one of the more talented teams of teachers across our district and serve as a demonstration site for scores more each year. Our parents have exceeded participation and fundraising goals, and our students continue to excel both socially and academically. This job has been the most rewarding of my career so thinking about other opportunities, either retirement or a move to support the work in other ways was always hard to imagine. My goal was to create the kind of school that could run itself with anyone’s support, so I know that as I am now accepting another opportunity that has been offered to me by our local district superintendent, Dr. Adaina Brown, our school will continue to thrive with a new principal. Starting next school year I will be supporting the work at a local district level as Local District West’s Lead Director. Erick Hansen, our Community of Schools Administrator, will work with our leadership team comprised of staff and parents to recruit and interview my replacement. Please know that this was a difficult decision for me to make, but I am excited to work at another level to advocate for excellence for a wider range of students, including our own. Coeur d’Alene will always have a very special place in my heart and know that as I continue to work with the local district leadership team, we will ensure a smooth transition for everyone. Thank you so much for your continued support of our work and your faith in our ability to educate your children. I will be sharing the news with our students tomorrow and Wednesday in each of their remote and in-person classes. I told our staff today at our meeting. I will be on campus all week, and this Friday’s culmination will of course be extra bittersweet. My last day as your principal will be June 28th.

Take care.
