Dear CDA Community,

Thanks for your continued support of our school. It has been over a week since I have last communicated, but I felt like there have been enough updates over these past 8 weeks that I wanted to give everyone a break. I have been spending a good deal of my time each day interfacing with our students and families on Zoom. It’s amazing to see so many of you. I am now posting office hours on our website’s calendar, where you can reach me or Ms. Ricks by phone if needed. Because of social distancing guidelines, we cannot receive folks yet, though, except by special appointment. Below are the latest updates.

Message from Superintendent Beutner

Every Monday, our superintendent shares updates on KLCS at 11:00 AM. The updates are also shared on the district’s website. Tomorrow he plans to share information on efforts to provide a safety net for those in need, work that connects every student online, plans for summer school, and a closer look at how they’re helping students with learning differences and disabilities. He’ll also discuss California’s budget woes and the implications for children in schools.

Remote Enrollment for 2020-2021

We have begun enrolling new families for the 2020-2021 school year remotely, the steps for which can found here. Please make sure that you do not use the enrollment portal for this year’s enrollment, as it has not gone live yet for next year. Instead, all enrollment forms, which can be accessed on that site, can be emailed to me with proof of age, address, and immunization, color scans please. If scans are not possible, I can arrange a meeting with social distancing measures in place. Please let anyone know in our community who may have a child to enroll for next year that they can reach out to me with questions. We look forward to welcoming our new families next year.

If you are not returning, which we regret, please let me know. Anyone who is currently enrolled will receive a letter over the summer welcoming them back with class assignments, except for our current TK families, who will find out assignments at our annual kindergarten orientation. Thanks.

It’s here! We are excited. I will be posting a video on Tuesday. Steps are below to take part in this virtual event. Thanks for all that you do to strengthen our community.   1. Pick your challenge and train for your mile (or 8-12 minutes of movement. This should have been done last week.)
  2. Register on Pledgestar if you’d like to try to raise some money for CDA (but it’s not essential, this is about fitness and fun!!)
  3. Complete your challenge any day May 11-15, making sure to film it, and upload into the flipgrid page (code: cdajat) so all your buddies can see what you did.

Fifth Grade Culmination

The planning committee had their first meeting this past Friday. We are meeting again this week. We will share our plan once it is finalized, but at this time we have to plan for a virtual culmination with a possible gathering later in the summer or early fall, once they are allowed. If you have any pictures of your child (no more than 5) engaged in a school event from any of their years at CDA, email them to me, and we will do our best to include them in a video montage we are working toward creating.
